It’s that time of year again and the Bupa Great North Run is just around the corner. It’s the second largest half marathon in the world where thousands of participants run between Newcastle upon Tyne and South Shields. So if you are participating it’s important to get yourself ready and make sure you have all the right gear for the Great North Run 2013!
Most importantly, make sure you have the right footwear, these need to be broken in while training so if you haven’t already got the right pair then do so quickly. Everyone has different feet so it is important that you choose the pair that are right for you. It’s easy to find out, just follow our simple running shoe guide to see which foot type you are and what style suits you. Once you know, you can pick your perfect pair, we have stability running trainers, suitable for all of you that over pronate and Neutral running footwear for the under pronators amongst us.
Next you need to make sure you have all the right clothing for running. We have the best running clothing from the biggest brands to help your run go as comfortable as possible. Sweat wicking technologies, including Nike Dri-Fit and adidas ClimaCool, help to remove excess moisture from your skin to keep you dry and avoid chaffing. Running wear also tends to be well ventilated to keep your temperature at optimum levels. A good combination for a half marathon would usually be a pair of running tights and a short sleeved top. Again, don’t leave it until the big day to wear your clothing, wear them in to make sure you will be comfortable.
Last but by no means least, you will need your all important running accessories. Not every accessory suits everyone but you will need to keep yourself hydrated and replenish the salt lost in sweat so ensure you have your trusty water bottle by your side.
So, if you are taking part, get yourself ready, enjoy the atmosphere on the day and we hope you raise lots of money for your charity! Let us know below what time you are aiming for at the Great North Run 2013.
