Nike has released The Netherlands World Cup Home Shirt 2014/15 as we begin the 100-day countdown to the tournament. Classic is the word we’d use to describe this one as the 2010 runners-up don a very traditional orange kit.
As we can see the classic colours are retained and, as such, the jersey epitomizes Dutch pride and shows complete support for the Oranje. The new team crest features a large white lion and the years ‘1889’ and ‘2014’ which signifies the 125th anniversary of the Royal Dutch Football Association.
The shirt creates a tailored fit and features ventilated, sweat-wicking fabric for ultimate comfort, which will be crucial in Brazil to help the players keep their cool.
The ultra-soft Dri-FIT fabric will help keep the players dry and comfortable by drawing the sweat from the body and drying quickly. The new dual-knit fabrication features recycled polyester and cotton for heightened sweat-wicking performance.
You’ll notice the laser-cut panels and mesh on the side of the shirt, this adds crucial ventilation in the particular hot points of the body which will also help the players cool down.
The Netherlands suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of France in Paris this week however, many are tipping them as one of the strongest European contenders for the World Cup.
What do you think of the new kit? Are you happy with the classic look or do you think they should have gone with something less traditional? You can browse the new shirts and training gear here.
