The world of football changes rapidly. One minute you’re a feisty 18-year-old upstart at Manchester United, the next you’re a feisty 36-year-old veteran at Derby County. Well, maybe not everything in football changes… I was always a bit of a cheeky chappy on the field, but you have to be. You don’t stay at the top of your game by shying away from the ball I can tell you.
What does change though is what’s available on the market for you guys. Brands are unveiling new sports products all the time and it’s important to get an understanding of what’s what. There’s some great gear out there at the moment and here are my picks of some of the best stuff at Kitbag.com right now:
Bayern Munich Replica Shirt
Pep’s on his way to the Allianz Arena in the summer but in the meantime outgoing coach Jupp Heynckes is well on his way to the Bundesliga title. Bayern are almost twenty points (!) clear at the top of the league, they haven’t lost a single competitive game since October and have won their last fifteen games in a row, conceding just four in those fifteen matches. They comfortably beat Arsenal at the Emirates in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League game, so it’s almost nailed on that they’ll reach the quarters. In fact, they’re serious contenders for European glory. Pick up their shirt here.
Manchester United Retro Replica Shirt
I was part of the famous Manchester United FA Youth Cup winning side of 1992 that featured the likes of David Beckham, Gary Neville, Ryan Giggs and Nicky Butt. I had a great time as a youngster at United and this classic shirt brings back fond memories I have from when I was learning my trade under the guidance of Sir Alex and youth coach Eric Harrison. Still one of the best United kits in recent times. Pick one up from the Kitbag Retro Lounge here.
Warrior Skreamer Football Boots
Warrior are picking up some of the best stars in the Premier League at the moment, with Manchester City’s Vincent Kompany and Everton’s Marouane Fellaini just some of the big names on their roster. They might be new on the scene but that doesn’t mean they don’t bat with the best of them. Check out the great new Skreamer Spicy Orange colourways here.
adidas Boost Running Shoe
To keep fit after retiring from playing I always make sure I’m up early for my morning run. As soon as that alarm goes off I’m out of bed and slipping on my new pair of adidas Boost trainers. When it comes to pounding the streets and trails of my neighbourhood there is little you can hope for more in a pair of great running trainers than comfort, and the Boost has that in abundance. Can’t recommend these enough if running’s your thing. Get them here: adidas Boost Running Shoes.
Nike Blazer Suede Trainers
Gorgeous. I love these. Nike have always been at the forefront of sports fashion, especially with their trainers, and these are no exception. Ever since I saw Back to the Future as a kid I fell in love with those Nike swoosh trainers the main character, Marty McFly, wears. These suede Blazer trainers have a very retro feel, which is what I like about them. My personal favourite is the Team Red/Sail colourway but you can check out the full range of colours yourself here. What’s your favourite?
Wales Rugby Union Shirt
My boys. Football was my profession, but rugby has always been close to my heart too. Just two more games in the 2013 Six Nations remain and it’s been hit and miss for The Red Dragons, with two wins marred by an opening game loss to Ireland. With Scotland and England games remaining, it’ll be tough, but I’m confident we can do it! Get the Wales Rugby Union shirt here.
Well, there you have it. Those are my picks from Kitbag.com. Some great stuff there to get your teeth into, so until next time, adios!
