Rugby World Cup 2015 – The Long Shots… Part 2

29/09/15

Scotland v United States of America - IRB Rugby World Cup 2015 Pool B

Namibia

Tonga v Namibia - IRB Rugby World Cup 2015 Pool C

Namibia got their campaign underway against New Zealand last Thursday and rather predictably lost to the tournament favourites. Namibia, will however take some huge confidence in the fact that they managed to score 14 points against the reigning champs. Coach, Phil Davies has demanded a big effort from his players as they take on Tonga. Flanker Tinus du Plessis, a strong performer against the All Blacks, and prop Johnny Redelinghuys, Namibia’s most capped player on 49 appearances, will be the key men for Namibia against Tonga and it is sure to be high intensity.

Result: 58 – 14 New Zealand V Namibia

Who’s next for Namibia?

Tonga V Namibia – Exeter –Tuesday 29th September – 4:45pm

Namibia V Georgia – Exeter – Tuesday 6th October – 8pm

Argentina V Namibia –Leicester – Sunday Oct 11th – 12pm

Our Prediction for Namibia:

We expect Namibia to produce some really good performances during the tournament and we could see their first ever RWC win. Namibia will, however, be relying on the key players in the team to help them record their first ever RWC Win.: Knocked out in the groups

Tonga

Tonga v Namibia - IRB Rugby World Cup 2015 Pool C

Tonga struggled in their opening fixture losing to minnows Georgia by 7 points. The strength passion and overall improvement of Georgia may have caught Tonga by surprise, but it was still a result the Tongans would like to quickly forget. They have a chance to redeem themselves today when they take on minnows Namibia today however Namibia will be just as fired up as Georgia were and will prove a tough test.

Result: 10 – 17 Tonga V Georgia

Who’s next for Tonga?

Tonga V Namibia – Exeter –Tuesday 29th September – 4:45pm

Argentina V Tonga – Leicester – Sunday 4th October – 2:30pm

New Zealand V Tonga – Newcastle – Fri Oct 9th – 8pm

Our Prediction for Tonga:

Having lost to Georgia, Tonga need to take every point they can from the remaining games, if they manage to beat Georgia today they are right back in with a chance of progressing, this will mean the crunch game will be against Argentina on Sunday: Quarter Final

Canada

Italy v Canada - IRB Rugby World Cup 2015 Pool D

Canada got off to an absolutely brilliant start to their campaign albeit a loss to Italy. Having lead at half time the crowd were thinking that this was going to be a repeat of Japans heroics, however the more experienced Italian side shone through in the end. Canada’s performance is yet another example of how much the so called “lesser teams” have come in terms of professionalism and ability.

Result: Ireland 50 – 7 Canada

Result: Italy 23 – 18 Canada

Who’s next for Canada?

France V Canada – Milton Keynes – Thurs 1st October – 8pm

Canada V Romania – Leicester – Tue 6th October – 4:45pm

Our Prediction for Canada,

Canada have impressed in this tournament and have perhaps even overachieved in the way that they have been playing. However it is going to be difficult for them to get out their group with the heavyweights that are in there, it does provide great confidence for future tournaments

USA

Scotland v United States of America - IRB Rugby World Cup 2015 Pool B

The Eagles have turned up to this World Cup and proved a huge point to the rest of the rugby world that they are a force to be reckoned with. In their opening games they have shown some incredible levels of fitness and athleticism. Although they may have lost their opening two games, meaning their chances of progressing are all but over, the Eagles have shown that in the years to come they could be become a genuine force in the Rugby World. They did however cause some controversy in their game against Scotland with some BIG hits which caused the crowd to jeer, nevertheless Rugby is all about physical strength and power and you cannot complain about their enthusiasm.

Result: Samoa 25 – 16 USA

Result: Scotland 39 – 16 USA

Who’s next for USA?

South Africa V USA – Olympic Stadium – Weds 7th October – 4:45pm

USA V Japan – Newcastle – Sun October 11th – 12pm

Our Prediction for USA

Unfortunately the USA aren’t going progress to the Knockout stages, but for their remaining games you can expect some extremely entertaining Rugby. 7th October is a date you should keep in your diary as we will see them take on the Springboks for a showdown that could decide South Africa’s fate in the tournament.
