Tennis, Wimbledon: The grandest stage of all

Wimbledon 2010-254

Wimbledon often has the ability to get your heart racing, palms sweating and jaw dropping! Last year was one of the most intense finals, not just the occasion but having a British finalist sent the whole of Great Britain wild. Of course, nobody can forget the result, Andy Murray won and put his name in the history books forever.

So far this tournament, the Scot hasn’t dropped a single set, he seems in the groove and the champ has started the way he finished his last Wimbledon. But we’ve come to the point where things get a little more challenging, round of 16 and Andy Murray faces off against 20th seed Kevin Anderson. But take his ranking with a pinch of salt, as with every year, it’s surprises galore, we’ve had our first big shock with Serena Williams losing to 25th seed Alize Cornet.

So it won’t be an easy ride for our man Murray. Oh, and lets not forget that Nadal, Federer and Djokovic are still in there. The man to watch right now, in particular, is Rafael Nadal, so far this tournament, he’s not started at his best but as the matches have gone on he’s come out stronger and admitted himself that he’s feeling at his peak form on grass, Andy, watch out! As much as we love Andy, we’re backing Nadal this year, he looks like he’s feeling strong and seems to be finding his pace, peaking at just the right time!

There’s definitely not been a lack of famous faces at Wimbledon, not to mention any names but David Beckham, Sachin Tendulkar are just two. So, if at times you think you can take your eyes off the screen whilst watching this years tournament, unfortunately, that time won’t come!

Don’t forget to check out our Wimbledon range, everyone loves a Wimbledon towel at this time year, I certainly do!

Who are you backing? How do you think Andy Murray’s going to get on? Comment below, tweet us @kitbaguk or post to us on Facebook!
